As you’ll be aware, the past few years have brought significant increases in the cost of living. Unfortunately, our taekwondo club has not been immune to these rising expenses. Since 2024, the hire fee for St Anne’s hall has risen by a staggering 38%. Additional costs, such as instructor insurance, training and accreditation, also continue to rise each year.  While I’ve managed to absorb previous increases, it is no longer possible to keep classes at their current rates if the club is to remain open.

I’m also mindful of the time spent on administration, particularly chasing non-payments. To keep these costs down, there will no longer be the option to pay per class on a Pay-As-You-Go basis. Also, from February, all fees will need to be paid on a monthly basis within the first week of each month (ideally as a standing order).

Hopefully that will eliminate some of the monthly admin! If I find I am still having to chase class payments at the end of each month, I will have to consider some kind of admin charge.

We already offer a lower rate for families attending together, and I’m pleased to say this will now be extended to students aged 18+ in full-time education, and those receiving Universal Credit, to make classes more accessible for those who need it most.

The reduced rate will also apply to black belts - this is a small thank you for the valuable contribution senior grades make by assisting with teaching during classes—an effective way to reinforce your own knowledge and help others progress.
