Hello everyone,

 

As you're aware, I will be closing the children's taekwondo club starting January, and I have made the decision not to offer any alternative martial arts or self-defence sessions. It has not been an easy decision to take but my increasing teaching commitments have made it necessary.

 

Although it will be hard for me to step back— watching each of our students grow in confidence and skill has been incredibly rewarding—I am super proud of what they've achieved, and know these qualities will benefit them beyond the dojang.

 

So I would encourage all of our students to continue their martial arts journey! Some options for you are:

• My Thursday evening women and girls' taekwondo club (beginners to green belt: 7:30–9:00pm; blue belt and above: 8:00–9:30pm at St Anne’s Hall, Letchworth Rd LE3 6FN). While this class is typically open to girls aged 12+, those who've trained with me previously may join from age 9.

​

• Leicester Taekwondo Academy led by my instructor Master Overton VII Dan, runs classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings (details here: https://tkdleicester.com/about-us/about/classes/). The club welcomes children from 5 years old, follows the UKITF syllabus, and would provide continuity in training.
   

• Private 1-1 classes: I am mentioning these only as a final option since I hold them at my home studio in LE3 on Sundays. They are ideal for quickly learning the basics or refining specific techniques or patterns, though I believe group classes are preferable for progressing through the belt system, as much of our advanced syllabus involves partner work.
   

• If your child enjoys the pad work element of taekwondo (and not so much the patterns!), I would also recommend the nearby Leicester PKA Kickboxing – I used to train there myself many years ago and know they run classes for all ages (www.leicesterpka.com)
